Grad+ Seminar Series: Fundamentals for Academic Success & Advanced Learning Lab

The Grad+ Seminar Series led by Leslie Blood, PhD, will consist of weekly 1 hr 15 min check-ins to support goal setting, planning and provide a clear understanding of how values should drive goals and habit structures. Students will find that these seminars provide a solid foundation which should reduce stress and help them find their place in the graduate community.

The 12-week fall session will begin Sept. 9 and will run through Dec. 2 (with no programming Thanksgiving week). All sessions will take place via zoom.

If you have not taken a full year of Grad+ Seminar previously, we recommend you start with the Fundamentals for Academic Success option. If you have completed a year or more of Grad+ Seminar, we recommend you sign up for the Advanced Learning Lab option.

Fundamentals for Academic Success

  • Tuesdays at 11:30 a.m. – 12:45 p.m. via zoom
  • Graduate school is an exercise in resilience. Whether you are beginning a master’s or PhD program, your academic success hinges on your ability to prioritize, manage & meet expectations, conduct original research, avoid distractions, and embrace discomfort. Our Grad+ Fundamentals seminar teaches you what you need to know about yourself to leverage your strengths, take on new challenges and address personal barriers to success. If you want to build confidence and resilience, this seminar will help you harness your potential and build development skills that will serve you during graduate school and beyond.

Advanced Learning Lab

  • Tuesdays at 10 - 11:15 a.m. via zoom
  • Practice makes perfect! Chances are you have heard that before… That saying is especially true when it comes to learning and mastering skills. The Grad+ Advanced Learning Lab is a pilot application-based seminar developed for students who have completed Grad+ Fundamentals (formerly Grad+ Introduction to Academic Success). The Learning Lab will focus on strategic reflection, strategy creation & customization, discussion, and critical application of performance theories. If you are ready to take on new challenges, explore personal growth and invest in high-impact professional development, sign up today. You will meet incredible academics, have some fun and build subject matter mastery along the way.
