Social & Emotional Intelligence Training for Grad Students

Emotions are data points that can help us influence and direct our behavior in positive ways. Highly effective leaders and individuals are able to use emotions as a source of intelligence.

This course explores the benefits and use-cases of Social and Emotional Intelligence using research studies, neuroscience, and personal reflection.

Content is structured around Dr. Daniel Goleman's research into the four domains of Social and Emotional Intelligence: Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness, and Social/Relationship Management.

After completing this course, you will be able to:

  • Define Social Intelligence (SI)
  • Explain the business case for developing SI
  • Recall areas of the brain involved in SI
  • Describe the four stages of a Social Intelligence model
  • Apply strategies to increase emotional competence 
  • Construct an action plan to address a current workplace challenge
