The Graduate School will hold its third annual Three Minute Thesis (3MT) competition on Friday, January 31, 2020. Competitors will describe their research in three minutes, using only one static slide, in front of a panel of judges and a live audience. This event is free and open to the public.

Founded by the University of Queensland in 2008, the Three Minute Thesis (3MT) is an academic competition that cultivates students’ presentation and research communication skills, and challenges them to describe their research within three minutes to a general audience. The competition at CU Boulder is open to all doctoral candidates. Applicants have the opportunity to participate in training and workshops leading up to the preliminary rounds and a final competition.

The first-place winner will receive $1,500 in research funds and the opportunity to represent the university at the Western Association of Graduate Schools (WAGS) competition in March 2020. The Graduate School will provide the funding for this trip. The runner-up will receive $750 in research funds, and the Audience's Choice winner will receive $500 in research funds. All finalists will receive a video of their 3MT presentation.

Registration is no longer available because the registration deadline has passed.
